For the 54th auction from 17 - 21 October 2022, Auktionshaus Christoph Gärtner presents a variety of over 10,000 philatelic and numismatic single lots and collections. The focus of the auction is ASIA with a great selection of Japan covers, Liechtenstein and Germany with a strong part of Soviet Occupation Zone and Wurttemberg.
On Monday, 17 October the auction begins with banknotes and coins. Especially worth mentioning are rare foreign banknotes like a 10 Pounds 1939 from Palestine or a 100 Rupees 1972 from the Seychelles. Coins range from golden histamenon from Byzantium to the rare 100 crown gold coin 1914 from Austria-Hungary.
Philately continues on Tuesday, 18 October 2022 with a special sections ASIA and Liechtenstein. The Asia special section offers an interesting selection of single items, such as a domestic cover from 1871 with a 1400 mon first issue franking. This cover is being offered for the first time since 1975. Highlights in the Liechtenstein special auction include a Vaduz souvenir sheet 1934 with violet LIBA-SST and special R label as well as the numerous unusual covers such as a value cover single franking by airmail/ship mail to Funchal, New York and back. Noteworthy among overseas single lots is the stamp 1864 "Rivadavia" 15 C. cut as well as a Thailand postal stationery used in Kulim (Kedah)/ Malaya.
